Abhishek Bachchan starrer to be co-produced by Fox Star

Abhishek Bachchan starrer `Dum Maaro Dum` set to be directed by Rohan Sippy will be co-produced Fox Star Studios, a joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox and Star.

The film will be Rohan`s third movie with Abhishek, whom he had earlier directed in `Kuch Naa Kaho` and `Bluffmaster`.

"I am happy to team up yet again with Abhishek, who is a marvelous actor, and together we promise to provide edge of the seat excitement to audiences," said Rohan.

"We are committed to working with the best talent in the business and are delighted to be working with the winning pair of Rohan and Abhishek on `Dum Maaro Dum`. It`s an amazing script that we are all very excited about. It`s going to be a film to watch out for in 2010," Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India, said in a statement.

The movie, an action-thriller, will be shot in Goa and also star Bipasha Basu, Aditya Panscholi and Pratiek Babbar and Telegu Star Rana Daggubati, who will make his Bollywood debut.

Abhishek in Zanjeer remake

The grand persona of the greatest icon of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan has no parallel. But, the only person who comes closest to the personality he attains is undeniably his own son, Abhishek Bachchan.

Buzz has it that Abhishek will be portraying the role of a tough cop, very much in the lines of his dad’s path breaking role in ‘Zanjeer’. The intense, no-nonsense role of a cop played by Big B is considered to be one of his best-known performances. And now his son Abhishek is all set to reprise the role.

The film that carved a definite image of Amitabh as one ‘angry young man’ of the time was appreciated worldwide and the same is expected to happen for Jr Bachchan. According to the reports, in the upcoming film ‘Dum Maro Dum’, Abhishek will play the role of a tough cop who is up against the drug mafia.

In order to make this role a repeat of Big B`s classic act, the makers are working overtime to give Abhishek some special attention and are keeping it as close to Big B`s character in ‘Zanjeer’ as possible.

Priyanka Chopra wants to work Abhishek

Priyanka Chopra is one levelheaded actress who doesn’t let her emotions hamper her professional decisions. The actress, who after a tiff with Abhishek Bahchcan had been snubbing the hunk, has now decided to let bygones be bygones and is vying to sign a film with him. Hoping to bag a hit this year, the actress has gone all out to make peace with Abhishek with whom she shares remarkable onscreen chemistry.
Going back one recalls that the two had fallen apart during an award function wherein both had wanted to dance on the same number. Unwilling to budge, it was Abhishek who had won the trivial battle. Ever since the two had been seen giving a cold snub to one another.

However Priyanka has now decided to take the high road. The actress is looking forward to share screen space with the him and has sent feels to director Rohan Sippy to consider her in his next film opposite Abhishek.

Confirming the news a source told a daily; “Priyanka has sent feelers to Rohan and is keen to work on this project. She has heard the gist of the script and she liked it. Moreover, Abhishek Bachchan’s presence has attracted her to the film. She finds him fabulous as an actor and loves their on-screen pairing.”

Well with a beauty like Priyanka vying to work with him, Abhishek sure has reasons to smile.

Abhi changes his look for one day

The Bachchan junior is trapped between Balki’s ‘Paa’ and Mani’s ‘Raavan’, his schedule is so hectic that he finds no time to take a break and what makes his timetable more tight is his changing look. If in Mani Ratnam’s 'Raavan', Abhishek Bachchan sports a moustache then in ‘Paa’ he is sporting a clean shaved. To complete one day shoot of ‘Paa’, Abhi not only rushed to Kuala Lumpur but also gets rid off his beard which he had grown for ‘Raavan’.

Says Abhishek, “The new clean-shaven look was needed. It was just one day’s shoot for Paa. Now for next week I have to go back to the earlier look for Mani’s look.”

Moreover, Abhishek’s ‘Raavan’ look was the most liked one among fans and many even requested Abhishek to keep his moustache permanently as it suits him very much.

However, he has to go for another look for Abhinay Deo’s untitled film.

Really, it’s no easy to essay any character, along with the role; you have to change their outlook too.

Abhi never mess with Ash

Junior Bachchan has a high regard for his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Though media cooked many conflicting stories of them, on the show Oye It's Friday, hosted by Farhan Akhtar, Abhishek Bachchan proved all those stories wrong and revealed the secret of their successful relationship. He never mess with Ash as they understand each other well and the best part of Ash is that she cares and loves Abhi’s parents more than him.

What makes Ash-Abhi’s relationship more beautiful and grip is that Abhi never ever mess with Ash and also does not feel insulted on bowing before his wife if he does any wrong. He said, “I am not the kind of person who thinks you lose face when you apologize.” Bachchan confessed that he has grown up with women - his mother, an elder sister and three cousins and therefore understands the strength and importance of women. He feels that women are much superior to men.

He said, “We men are nothing. So don't ever mess with women. They have a fantastic ability to sulk. They remember everything. So there's no point fighting with them because you will never win. And you know what's worse? Even when you fight, at the end of the day you want to sleep peacefully. You certainly don't want to end up on the couch. Always remember that the woman holds the keys to the house!"

Abhi praises Ash in the following words, "Aishwarya isn't hoity-toity at all. She's a very normal lady. Very loving. I really love the way that she takes care of my parents. That means a lot to me. I am very particular about my parents. I care for them, as any son would. You are always tense about your wife's relationship with your parents. But in our case, my wife's best friend is my mother. She calls my parents more than I do. She's really become part of the family. And to top it all, she manages to look beautiful even when you get up in the morning. Now that's fantastic. Ash and I get along very well. She's like my best friend."

Journalist troubles Abhishek

The shooting of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ravan’ came to hold when a journalist landed on the spot and and made hue and cry for Abhishek’s interview. The shooting of Ravan is taking place in high security and no any unwanted person is allowed to loiter around the shooting premises. Mani dislikes disruption in his work and also does not want any footage of the film to get leaked in the media. In spite of high alert, a journalist landed on the spot to take Abhishek’s interview. When the journalist did not get access, he felt insulted and again returned with his sub-inspector friend. When the situation went out of Mani’s hand, he took the help of the bigwigs of media to bring the situation under control.

Only after the interference of the big face of the media channel, the journalist calmed down. Mani and Abhishek learnt a lesson for not entertaining the media. Hope they will not repeat this mistake again.

‘Ravan’ is a highly awaited flick of 2009 starring Abhishek and Aishwarya. The shooting is carried under tough condition in the deep jungle of Kochi.

Abhishek annoys Priyanka

Abhishek Bachchan destroys Priyanka Chopra’s mood. The duo that used to share a good rapport is no more on talking terms. A rift has been created between them when Abhi adhered to perform on the same dance number at the Filmfare Awards which Priyanka Chopra had zeroed much before him.

According to eyewitness, both had a bitter exchange of words and later furious Piggy Chops opted out of the track. A source has been quoted as saying, "Priyanka selected the track first. Later, Abhishek also wanted the same song. As he was performing after a long time, he wanted to get jiggy on this particular track."

Since Priyanka is a hot sensation of Bollywood, the Filmfare approached her to perform during the event and they gave her some choices of songs which unfortunately collided with Abhishek’s choice and unable to convince Abhi, Priyanka stepped back.

Ash, Abhishek have no plans for child

Though they were married for more than two years now, Bollywood's sizzling couple Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan have no plans to extend his family at the moment as they are busy with their commitments. They have signed many projects and both focused on their individual career. When Bachchan junior was asked when we can hear the good news from them, he slyly replied, “We feel that a child is God’s gift and frankly have not planned about having a child as of now because both of us are quiet busy with work. As and when we do have a child, what is of primary importance is that we should have a healthy child and it is immaterial whether we have a son or a daughter”.

In the past few films, Abhishek paired with his wife and in some of his future projects too he has Ash as his on-screen partner. He is not in the favor of having Ash in all his films but if the film and the director demands so, he will be more than happy to cast opposite her but there is no any hard and fast rule to have Ash only. “ It is petty to think that I maneuver to have Ash in every film of mine. I do not decide who should be cast in a film as my leading lady. I do not insist that Ash should be my leading lady. I did two films last year after marriage and Ash was not there in them at all. Ash was not there in Delhi 6 with me. Mani wanted her in his film which has a working title like Ravana and Abhinav Deo was keen that she should be a part of his film”, said Abhishek.

Abhi's Drona and Delhi 6 both did not fare well at the box office in spite of putting lots of hard work. Next he is looking forward to Balki’s Pa in which he has been cast with his dad.

Girls Cheer Abhishek

Delhi 6 is one of the biggest releases of 2009. As it came from the Rang De Basanti fame, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, expectation is much higher. No sooner the stars of Delhi 6 stepped into the movie theatre, thousand of onlookers heated up the atmosphere of Delhi with their whistling and loud cheer. Delhiites are stuck to see their favorite stars paving their way to PVR Priya. Girls of all ages hauled on looking at Abhishek and threw remarks like “Abhishek I love you", "Abhishek marry me", "Abhishek, you are the best". Women of every age group cheered for Abhi.

Abhishek is awestruck on looking at the enthusiasm of the audience. "It's mind blowing. It's amazing. I love Delhi and the turn out of the people here is fantastic. I hope it remains the same in theatres as well", said Abhishek.

"We are keeping our fingers crossed. Expectations are high," Sonam Kapoor, one of the lead actors, said. Abhishek has been quoted as saying, "I’m nervous with anticipation. I’m so excited. I hope audience love the film. I found a lot of similarities and that''s why I was really keen to do the film." The story of Delhi-6 is placed against the backdrop of the ancient walled city of Delhi. It will hit the theatre today.

Abhi enjoys B'day with family

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan turned 33 on 5th February. Abhi joined Ash in New York where she was promoting her English film 'Pink Panther 2'. His parents Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya, who were recently in Davos and London, also joined the couple. At first the birthday boy parents were unsure about joining Abhi's birthday bash but later they managed to take part on their son's birthday celebrations. After the premiere of Pink Panther 2, they all had a gala time, all enjoyed Abhi’s birthday to the fullest.

The actor is having a hectic time for quite sometime now shooting for Mani Ratnam's Ravana in the deep jungle of Kochi with wife Ash. Abhishek is eagerly waiting for his forthcoming release Delhi 6 as the film is expected to turn around his career fully. Directed by Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra, Dehli 6 speaks about an incident in Delhi that transformed Abhishek's short trip to the longest journey of his life.

Veteran actors like Waheeda Rehman and Om Puri are also part of the film. Abhi paired with Saawariya gal Sonam Kapoor.

Speaking about his character, he said, "I am playing the character of Rohan Mehra who is born and brought up in New York. Rohan has never been to India but the course of the film brings him to his ancestral home for the first time. The challenge of the character was to stick out and blend into the surroundings."

Dadaji (Harivansh Rai Bachchan) got it first, Pa got it twice, then Ma (Jaya Bachchan) and now me ... the award is very special to the family and I'm humbled to receive such high honour from the country."
