New Delhi, March 01: Keen to do your bit to save the mother Earth from threats of global warming? Join Nobel peace prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bollywood actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan among others to make people aware about climate change.

Over two million people across the world will switch off lights of their homes and offices for an hour at 8.30 pm on March 28 to kickstart the `Earth Hour` campaign. "Climate change is the greatest human induced crisis facing the world today. It is totally indiscriminate of race, culture and religion. It affects every human being on the planet," said Archbishop Tutu in a statement here.

Actor Aamir Khan, is also a part of the initiative called `Earth Hour`, which is a part of World Wildlife Fund, an international NGO`s initiative that began in Sydney in 2007 as a one-city campaign when over two million people switched off their lights for an hour. In 2008, the campaign went global with over 50 million people in 371 cities, across 35 countries flicking the switch.

Over 500 cities in 75 countries, including India, has already signed up to take part in the lights out campaign, which is anticipated to be one of the greatest social movements the world has ever witnessed.

"Earth Hour is an opportunity for every man, woman and child from all corners of the globe to come together with a united voice and make a loud and powerful statement on the issue of climate change," he said.
